A place of excellence to learn through research
Our Mission
The Education Center of the Institut Pasteur is dedicated to equip learners for research professions by integrating thorough theoretical training with practical experience. Our programs cover a wide range of disciplines in life sciences and public health, enabling students, PhD candidates, and life science and health professionals to enhance their scientific and technical skills.
At the heart of our pedagogy is hands-on experimentation, conducted in state-of-the-art facilities with specialized staff dedicated to the learning of scientific practices.
Our Commitments
- 1 To provide high-quality training: ensuring education based on the latest scientific advances and best experimental practices.
- 2 To promote practical and collaborative learning: allowing learners to handle cutting-edge equipment and work in teams, in a secure and stimulating environment.
- 3 To encourage international and interdisciplinary openness: welcoming learners from all backgrounds and fostering scientific exchanges worldwide.
- 4 To contribute to global scientific impact: training professionals able to tackle contemporary challenges in health and science research and disseminate their knowledge within their scientific and professional communities.
Facilities and Equipment
The Education Center of the Institut Pasteur has cutting-edge and flexible facilities designed to provide an optimal learning experience. The Center spans 2,400 m² and includes spaces suitable for all types of scientific training:
Practical work rooms: three rooms each accommodating up to 24 participants, equipped for a variety of experiments.
Microbiological Safety Cabinets (MSC Rooms): two rooms with 12 stations each, for sterile and safe handling of pathogenic microorganisms and cell cultures.
High-tech microscopy: a room equipped with epifluorescence microscopes and advanced imaging systems.
Big data analysis: a room directly connected to the Institut Pasteur’s servers for processing and analyzing large volumes of scientific data.
Equipped classrooms: six rooms including four equipped for computer-led courses.
The Center also benefits from access to the Institut Pasteur’s technological platforms, as well as occasional loans of advanced equipment from pasteurian laboratories or private partners.

Diverse Training Programs Addressing Major Health Challenges
The Pasteur Courses cover a wide range of essential topics for researchers and health professionals: from epidemiology and public health to microbiology, immunology, genetics, cell biology, infectious disease modeling, and cutting-edge technologies such as bioimage analysis through artificial intelligence or electron microscopy.
These courses are designed to support responses to the scientific and societal challenges identified in the “Pasteur 2030” strategic plan, which prioritizes fighting infectious diseases, antibiotic resistance, environmental impact, and understanding life mechanisms.
They offer learners advanced and up-to-date expertise, enabling them to contribute effectively to research and innovation in global public health.
Practical Information - Preparing Your Visit to the Education Center
The Education Center welcomes learners from around the world every year. To ensure a smooth and pleasant training experience for everyone, we provide all the necessary information for your arrival.
Participation Fees
Registration fees vary depending on the duration, format of the course, and status of the learner (student, researcher, professional, etc.). Partial scholarships may be offered for some courses, especially to international learners.
Student Guide
The Practical Guide for Students gathers all essential information to prepare for and follow your training at the Institut Pasteur: organization, services, campus life, and useful resources.
Housing
To facilitate your stay in Paris, the Institut Pasteur offers several housing options through privileged partnerships, available for stays of one month or more as part of the courses.
Medical Information
The health and safety of our learners is a priority:
Some courses require additional vaccinations, especially for laboratory practical work; this will be specified on the course’s dedicated page.
Our Organization
To ensure an outstanding learning experience, the Institut Pasteur Education Center is organized around two complementary hubs.
The Administrative Hub oversees every stage of course administration, ensuring transparent and efficient processes from application through course completion.
It manages registration, application review, and admissions while coordinating the operational delivery of courses, including curriculum planning and faculty scheduling.
Working behind the scenes to support learners throughout their journey, the Hub collaborates closely with partner universities, the Technical Hub, and the entire teaching community, both within the Institut Pasteur and internationally.
