Description
Master 2 students from partner Universities (Sorbonne University, University of Paris Cité and Paris-Saclay University) MUST NOT register online and must submit their registration request DIRECTLY to contacts in charge of their university course. These students have free access to the course.
All other students must register online and pay their registration fees.
The Genomes Analysis course associates two complementary sides of genomes studies: a “wet-lab” experimental approach and the analysis of its results through bioinformatics tools.
The lectures given by expert scientists present cutting edge genomic and post-genomic technologies, as well as provide state of the art knowledge in domains such as genome structure and expression, evolution, epigenomics, gene expression regulatory networks, in both model and pathogenic organisms, metagenomics and natural or artificial population analysis.
The genomic and bioinformatics practical trainings allow applying the different concepts presented in the lectures. The wet-lab part will be divided in two projects. The first will focus on the metagenomics analysis of microbial communities using HiC technologies. The second will be dedicated to the study of a set of non-coding RNAs (piRNA) and of their regulatory role on the Drosophila melanogaster transposable elements.
A good knowledge of genetics, molecular biology and biochemistry is mandatory; i.e. end of master 1 level. In terms of bioinformatics there is no prerequisite. Bioinformatics methodologies and training will be taught along the course process. Computer access will be provided for all students in order to practice and apply the learned methodologies on their data sets. Applications will be evaluated by the Genome Analysis course committee.
